Bedroom Furniture
Piegut Bed – Made using turned pieces from an Islington cafe.
Egginton Bed – Made from oak with black-stained ply slats.
Hornbeam and Lacewood Chest of Drawers – A long, low chest of drawers containing 12 drawers including three hidden in the plinth.
Hornbeam and Lacewood Wardrobes – From the same room, these have doors, plinth drawers and a lift-up flap at the top.
Charred Hornbeam Cheval Mirror – Charring is one of my favourite finishes for treen. However, going at a piece of complex cabinetmaking with a blowtorch is quite nerve-wracking!
Chestnut & Bog Oak Chests of Drawers – Part of a bedroom suite, this pair of chests of drawers were designed so that they could be side-by-side in the room they were made for, or separated if moved to a different room. All made in traditional fashion, with hand-dovetailed drawers with oak sides and cedar of Lebanon bottoms to deter moths.
Chestnut & Bog Oak Bedside Table – From the same suite and another favourite (it reminds me of a small animal).
Chestnut Bookcase – From the same suite and made wedge-shaped to get the most room from an irregular space.
Pinewood Bedroom – A large bedroom suite made from alder wood.
Pinewood Bedroom – Interior of the alder wood wardrobe.
English Cherry & Lacquer Tallboy – The front is veneered with four consecutive sheets of veneer. The handles are made from bog oak and steel, and the legs are lacquered wood that has been honed to give an effect like brushed steel. I also made the special door hinges.
Whittlesford Walnut Chest of Drawers – My clients had a dead walnut tree in their garden. We had it sawn into planks and used some of them to make this chest. The drawer fronts are five consecutive planks. The drawer linings are made from oak and cedar of Lebanon. The handles are wenge and stainless steel.
Lacquer Wardrobe – A sleek minimalist design.
Peterborough Wardrobe – One of a pair, fitted either side of a fireplace, made from painted beech and birch ply.
