Living Room Furniture
Brick Side Table – made from walnut, oak and hornbeam, with a birch ply top.
Bubble Cabinet – The doors were made from MDF on a CNC router (a woodworking robot).
Sawston Dresser – made to store cutlery, wine and crockery. The wrap-around top is oak, and the floating shelf is glass with LED lights behind.
Kentish Town Hall Cabinet – This was an interesting design brief, for a piece of furniture to sit in an entrance hall and to be used to store keys, bike lights, gloves etc. The curved frames were made on a CNC router (woodworking robot) and there is a mixture of lacquered MDF and solid oak. The curved drawers were hinged on a steel spine.
Brown Chestnut & Resin Dresser – Made in the 1990s. The vine motif around the top was made by routing the design , then filling the grooves with black resin and sanding level.
Sandon Bar – This was a little jewel box of a bar, fitted into a space around 1.5m square. The design was inspired by New York speakeasies from the prohibition era. It is made from antiqued oak, with brass worktops and antiqued mirrors.
Silver Cabinet – A tricky job, making two matching silver cabinets for a wedge-shaped room. The adjustable shelves are glass with a painted frame, which allows the lights set in the tops of the cabinets to illuminate all the contents.
Crystal Palace Cabinet – I have made several pieces like this, mainly to fit in alcoves.
Skylon Side Table – Inspired by the centrepiece of the Festival of Britain, the top floats above the base on stainless steel wires.
Ripple Sycamore Side Table – The top is made from a bookmatched piece of sycamore. The drawer has a cedar of Lebanon bottom, which gives an interesting smell when opened. The fluting on the legs was inspired by the blade of a scull.
Milton Road TV Cabinet – This was made from American cherry. I made the cabinet wedge-shaped . The floating shelves are supported by hidden cleats.
Painted Dresser
Hildersham radiator cover 1 – Made from oak.
Hildersham radiator cover– Made from painted beech and birch ply.
Painted Cabinet – Another alcove piece.
Chinese Style Cabinet – My client was part-Chinese and wanted a piece of furniture that looked to that heritage. It also had to be quite modern, with fold-away doors revealing a TV and audio equipment. I made the handles from phosphor bronze with hammered decoration. The red finish is red ochre mixed with varnish, and waxed.
Hampstead Window Seat – Made for a house overlooking Hampstead Heath, from laminated ply.
Stamford Hill Window Seat – Seating with a range of storage, from drawers to lift-up lids.
